What to Watch For at PACK EXPO International 2026
A quick note before diving in: PACK EXPO International 2026 hasn't happened yet as of this writing, so this is a preview of what to expect and what to scout for, not a recap. We'll follow up with an actual report once the show wraps in October.
The basics
PACK EXPO International 2026 runs October 18–21 at McCormick Place in Chicago, organized by PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. The show is expected to draw more than 48,000 industry professionals and over 2,600 exhibitors across 40-plus industries, spanning all four McCormick Place buildings — North, South, West, and the Lakeside Center. It's billed as the largest packaging and processing event in the world, and the scale backs that up.
What's on the floor
The exhibited categories line up closely with what Stateside already supplies: packaging and processing solutions, automation, controls and components, and packaging equipment and machinery. That overlap isn't a coincidence — conveyor systems, sensors, and signaling hardware are foundational to nearly every packaging line on the show floor, whether the exhibitor is selling a full case-packing system or a single component that goes into one.
If you're planning to attend
Registration details worth knowing ahead of time: early-bird pricing has opened at $30, with regular registration at $130, and both tiers include access to the show's educational sessions. For a four-day event of this scale, that's a low bar to clear if you're within driving or flying distance of Chicago in October.
Categories worth scouting
If you're going, or sending someone, these are the categories worth building extra time into the walk for:
- Conveyor automation — new approaches to line integration, changeover speed, and modular conveyor design.
- Machine vision inspection — a fast-growing category in its own right (see our companion piece on vision sensors replacing simple photoeyes) and a natural fit for packaging quality control.
- Sensor-driven quality control — fill-level, label, and print verification systems built specifically for high-speed packaging lines.
Worth flagging: no specific exhibitor list or session agenda has been published yet as of this writing, so treat any product-specific claims about the show with caution until closer to October.
How Stateside can help
If you're evaluating packaging-line upgrades ahead of or after the show, we can help source the conveyor, sensor, and signaling components behind whatever you're seeing on the floor — send us what you're looking at and we'll help you spec it.
